Harbhajan Singh banned for 5 ODI matches
General, News May 15th, 2008After the slapping incident involving Bhajji and Sreesanth, BCCI has banned Bhajji for 5 matches after he was found guilty of slapping Sreesanth during a IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab.The incident in Mohali left Sreesanth weeping inconsolably in full view of television cameras. The off-spinner who has one of the worst disciplinary records in international cricket was initially banned from playing any further part in the IPL but BCCI setup a independent investigation into this incident.
The Nanavati committee decided to ban Harbhajan for 5 one-day internationals, effective from today(May 15), Harbhajan has also been warned of a life-ban if he’s found to be involved in such incidents in future. The ban means Bhajji will miss the tri-series involving Pakistan and Bangladesh and also two Asia Cup matches beginning next month. BCCI has also warned Sreesanth, saying it would take appropriate actions if he does not improve his on-field behaviour.
